Starters: The meal kicked off with an order of Fried Calamari, which was incredible. Delightfully crispy and cooked to perfection, without the common pitfall of chewiness that often plagues this dish. The breading was seasoned well, complementing the tender calamari inside. The accompanying dipping sauce was a zesty but sweet with a hint of spice that elevated the flavours even further. Overall, it was a solid start to the meal. It definitely tantalized our taste buds and set the high expectations for the rest of the dining experience.
Main Courses: After a few Miami Vices at Wasaga Beach, I was definitely craving something that screamed carbs! So, for the main course, I opted with the potato gnocchi.
The gnocchi itself was airy and pillowy, indicating it was made fresh, which is always the best. It was velvety sauce that had depth and complexity – a blend of rose cream sauce, burrata cheese and a touch of fresh basil. Oh my god every bite was indulgent without being overly heavy. A perfect balance for what I was looking for. The dish was garnished with a dusting of grated parmigiana cheese, adding a burst of colour and flavour.
My husband ordered Prime’s Spicy Pasta, a dish made with linguine, vegetables, and a flavourful spicy tomato sauce. It was a cozy and original choice, especially since he usually sticks to a traditional meat, potato, and vegetable diet. He finished it off with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for an extra touch as well.
We didn’t stop there! We chose a white Riesling Sorentberg wine as well, which complemented our meals. Not too sweet and not too bitter. Balance is key with everything in life, right?!
Drinks
The drink list was extensive. Apart from wines, the cocktail menu was equally impressive, with both classic and creative options that were expertly mixed.
Pricing
While Prime 7 Nine leans towards the higher end of the pricing spectrum, the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere justifies the expense. It’s an ideal choice for special occasions or when you simply want to treat yourself to an exquisite dining experience.
Overall Experience
Prime 7 Nine delivered an impressive dining experience, with attentive service and a cozy outdoor ambiance. As the evening grew darker, they even brought a lamp to our table, adding to the comfort. The interior was equally striking, featuring tall ceilings, expansive windows, and an elegant bar. It truly was an amazing experience!
I’d highly recommend this restaurant in the Collingwood area. Whether you’re looking for a casual night out, celebrating a special occasion and want at a high end restaurant or are looking for a bar, Prime 7 Nine is your go-to premium restaurant. Their dishes were amazing and the inviting atmosphere makes it a standout choice.
