Sometimes healthy habits are about the big things—moving your body, eating enough protein, getting better sleep, and making choices that support your health.

But sometimes they’re about the little things too.

A pretty drink. A quiet moment. Something that feels a little special without needing to spend $8 at a coffee shop.

Because let’s be honest, those fancy café drinks add up quickly. My wallet does not need another hobby.

If you’re looking for another simple recipe that feels a little special without requiring much effort, you might also enjoy my Healthy Peach Toast. It’s another one of my easy favourites when I want something fresh, satisfying, and uncomplicated.

Lately, I’ve been enjoying this blueberry matcha cream drink, and it feels like the perfect balance between a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up and a little indulgence.

Now, I’ll admit something…

I’m hot and cold with matcha.

Sometimes I love it. Sometimes I take a sip and think, “Yep… that definitely tastes like I blended a lawn.”

But the benefits are what keep me coming back. I find the caffeine feels smoother and more steady compared to coffee, and my stomach doesn’t seem to get as upset. For me, matcha feels like a gentler option when I want a little boost without the coffee jitters.

All it really needs is a little sweetness and a few fun additions to turn it into something I actually look forward to.

Is it a fancy café drink? Maybe.

Did I make it in my own kitchen wearing whatever comfortable clothes I could find? Also yes.

And honestly, that’s much more my style.

My Blueberry Matcha Cream Drink

This easy blueberry matcha latte has three simple layers:

  • A lightly sweetened matcha base
  • A creamy blueberry layer
  • A homemade whipped cream topping

It looks fancy, but it’s surprisingly simple to make.

Matcha Layer

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • ⅔ cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon stevia powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk of choice

Mix the matcha powder with hot water until smooth. Add the stevia and milk, then blend until combined.

Matcha contains naturally occurring caffeine and antioxidants, which is why many people enjoy it as an alternative to traditional coffee. It can be a great addition to a balanced lifestyle when you enjoy it in a way that works for you.

Blueberry Layer

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • ¼ cup blueberry yogurt
  • ½ cup milk of choice

Blend the blueberries, yogurt, and milk together until smooth.

This layer adds the beautiful colour and fruity flavour that makes this drink feel like something you’d order from a café—but made right at home.

Whipped Cream Layer

  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon stevia powder
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Add the heavy cream, stevia, and powdered sugar to a stand mixer and whip until light and fluffy.

This part is completely optional—but let’s be honest, the creamy topping is what takes this from a simple matcha drink to a little treat.

If you want to make it lighter, you can skip the whipped cream or add a dollop of blueberry yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or even plain Greek yogurt on top. Some days call for a little extra sweetness, and some days call for keeping things simple. Both are okay.

How To Layer Your Blueberry Matcha Latte

Fill a large glass with ice (I like adding a few larger ice chunks so it stays cold longer).

Layer in:

  1. The matcha mixture
  2. The blueberry mixture
  3. The whipped cream topping

And there you have it—a beautiful blueberry matcha cream drink made right in your own kitchen.

This recipe makes one large drink, but you could easily divide it into two glasses and share it with someone.

Although I wouldn’t recommend saving it for later.

Yes, I tested this for you.

After sitting, the matcha flavour becomes even more grassy, and the blueberry mixture starts to separate and become more watery.

The sacrifices I make for research.

Why I Love Simple Little Rituals After 40

As I get older, I’ve realized that taking care of myself doesn’t have to mean making everything complicated.

It can be as simple as creating small habits that make everyday life feel better.

Sometimes that’s choosing a protein-packed lunch.

Sometimes it’s taking a walk.

Sometimes it’s making yourself a pretty drink just because you can.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating a lifestyle you actually enjoy living.

And if that lifestyle includes a blueberry matcha latte with a little whipped cream on top?

I’m okay with that.

Have You Tried Matcha?

I’d love to know—are you a matcha fan, or are you still loyal to your morning coffee?

Share your favourite little healthy rituals in the comments. You might inspire someone else’s next simple wellness habit.

Thank You’s!
