If you’re feeling overwhelmed by clutter, this ultimate declutter checklist will help you identify hundreds of things you can let go of to create a calmer, more organized home.

Not long ago, I found myself standing in our guest room staring at a piece of furniture I knew I didn’t need anymore.
The funny thing is, it wasn’t even my style. The room looked better without it. I knew it was time.
And yet there I was, making excuses and avoiding listing it online.
If you’ve ever done the same thing, you already know clutter isn’t always about stuff.
Sometimes it’s about memories. Sometimes it’s about guilt. Sometimes it’s about that weird little voice that says, “But what if I need this someday?”
(For the record, I have never once needed the random charger I’ve been saving since 2014. 😂)
The truth is, creating a calmer home usually isn’t about buying more baskets, better organizers, or another storage solution. Most of the time, it’s about letting go of the things that no longer fit your life.
Not all at once.
Just one drawer, one shelf, and one forgotten item at a time.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, here’s a giant decluttering checklist to help you get started.

A calmer home isn’t built in a weekend. Trust me, I’ve gone into a Saturday convinced I was about to declutter the entire house, only to end up reorganizing one drawer and calling it a day. 😂
Most of the time, it happens through small decisions. One drawer cleaned out. One box donated. One item you finally stop keeping “just in case.”
And then one day, you look around and realize your home feels lighter.
Not because you got rid of everything.
But because you’ve become a little more intentional about what stays.
And honestly, that’s the kind of home I’m aiming for. Not perfectly organized. Not minimalist. Just filled with things I actually use, love, and want there.
If you’re working toward a calmer home too, you’ll also find plenty of practical organizing and decluttering ideas from Good Housekeeping.
