Finding Peace in Life: Why I Started The Unscripted Femme

Finding peace in life isn’t something I’ve mastered. In fact, it’s something I’m still learning.

Finding Peace in Life Isn’t Easy

For most of my life, I believed happiness was waiting somewhere in the future.

If I worked hard enough…
If I reached the next goal…
If I built the life I imagined…

Then I’d finally feel settled.

For years, my husband and I worked toward some pretty big dreams. We built careers, reached financial goals we’d talked about for years, and checked off so many of the things we’d hoped for.

And I’m incredibly grateful for that.

But something surprised me.

Even after reaching those goals, I still felt like I was searching for something I couldn’t quite name.

It wasn’t more success.

It was peace.

Why Finding Peace Feels So Hard

I used to think I was wired differently.

While other women seemed to enjoy the little things—trying new recipes, decorating their homes, buying flowers just because, finding joy in everyday moments—I was always focused on what came next.

Always chasing.

Always planning.

Always believing I’d relax once I got “there.”

The problem is… there always seemed to be another “there.”

How Chronic Pain Changed Everything

Living with chronic pain has a way of changing your priorities.

Some days, simply getting through the day is enough.

It forced me to slow down—sometimes whether I wanted to or not.

And strangely, slowing down taught me something I probably never would have learned otherwise.

Maybe life isn’t meant to be lived at full speed.

Maybe the things we remember most aren’t the biggest milestones.

Maybe they’re the quiet moments in between.

Turning 40 Changed Me Too

Turning 40 didn’t bother me nearly as much as I expected.

I’ve always felt a little like an old soul anyway.

The number itself never really worried me.

My body, on the other hand…

Let’s just say perimenopause had a few surprises waiting for me.

The fatigue.

The bloating.

Wondering why the things that used to work suddenly didn’t anymore.

It felt like my body was asking me to start paying attention in a whole new way.

Instead of chasing quick fixes or trying to become a completely different person, I started focusing on something much simpler:

Taking better care of myself.

Not through perfection.

Not through extreme diets.

Not through impossible routines.

Just by building healthier habits, one step at a time.

That’s become a big part of this blog too.

As I learn more about nutrition, gut health, movement, and feeling stronger after 40, I’ll share what I’m learning along the way.

Why I Started The Unscripted Femme

Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t want to build a life that only looked good from the outside.

I wanted one that actually felt good to live.

That’s what The Unscripted Femme has become.

A place where I’m figuring out what really matters.

You’ll find ideas for creating a calmer home, eating healthier without making life complicated, saving money, journaling, personal growth, wellness after 40, and all the little habits that help life feel a bit lighter.

Because I’ve started to believe that big transformations don’t usually happen overnight.

They happen through small, intentional choices we make every single day.

Maybe Peace Is Simpler Than We Think

I’m beginning to wonder if peace isn’t something we find at the end of a long journey.

Maybe it’s already here.

Maybe it’s the quiet morning with a cup of coffee.

A walk outside.

A healthier meal that makes your body feel good.

Crossing one thing off your to-do list.

A home that feels peaceful.

A conversation that makes you laugh.

Writing in your journal before bed.

Tiny moments that don’t seem extraordinary until you realize they’re quietly becoming your life.

I’m Glad You’re Here

I don’t have life figured out.

I’m still learning. Still growing. Still asking questions.

But if you’re looking for simple ways to create a healthier, calmer, and more meaningful life after 40…

I hope you find something here that inspires you to slow down, take care of yourself, and appreciate the little things a little more.
